A one day trip by cab lets you escape the city for a few hours without planning hotels or train tickets. You leave in the morning, spend the day at a hill station, temple, fort or lake, and return by night. A private car with driver means no waiting for buses, no parking worry and enough flexibility to linger where you like.
Choosing a good day trip
The best day trip is one that fits the daylight and the drive. A destination that needs more than a few hours each way is better as a two day plan. Our tour packages page separates one, two and three day itineraries and lists the places covered in each.
Popular day trips
From Pune, travellers choose Lonavala, Mahabaleshwar, Matheran and temple circuits. From Mumbai, Lonavala and Alibaug are common. From Bengaluru, Mysuru and Chikkamagaluru; from Delhi, Jaipur, Haridwar and Rishikesh stretch the limits of a day but are possible with an early start. Each route page gives the road character and the best season.
Planning the day
Start early to beat traffic, carry water and light snacks, and keep a buffer for the return. In the monsoon, check road and weather advisories for ghat sections. Share your list of must-see stops so the driver can plan the order.
Group size and comfort
Small groups can use a hatchback or sedan. Families usually prefer an Ertiga or Innova for the extra space. Tempo travellers suit office outings and large family groups.
